James m. 3 May 1716 at Kittery, ME Sarah Barter, daughter of Henry Barter and Sarah Crockett. James and Sarah had Anne (m. 1750/51 Samuel Raynes, son of Nathan Raynes and Elizabeth Paine of York, ME), Eleonor [sic] (found non compos mentis 28 April 1761) and perhaps James (estate admin. 1763) - see "The Grindle Family..." (1978), p. 3.
