[51937] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 25 May 2018": "Fayetteville, Ga. - Edith D. Frye, age 99, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2018, at home in Fayetteville, Ga., surrounded by family. She was born Jan. 17, 1919, in Franklin, the daughter of the late Clifton and Agnes Bunker Donnell. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1935 as the salutatorian of her class. Edith was married to Norwell P. Frye on July 13, 1941, at the Franklin Baptist Church and was a member of Tent 11, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Having moved to South Carolina in 1963, she spent her working years at Columbia Christian School and in the library of Columbia Bible College. Her retirement was spent in Fayetteville, Ga., where she resided with her son, Jed, and was a member of Lisbon Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and lifelong Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed puzzles, playing games, especially Scrabble, family gatherings and taking walks. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, 'Norm,' in 1971 and by children and great-grandchildren whom she never met on Earth. She is survived by four children, Roland, husband of Marjorie Choate Frye; John, husband of Vicki Brown Frye; Rachel Frye Wood, wife of P. Thomas Wood; D. Jed, husband of Cheryl France Frye; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren."

He was in court for fathering a child out of wedlock with Martha Merry. They were allowed to marry shortly before the child was born. Ten years later, Andrew and six of his neighbors, including fellow Scot John Curmuckhell, were slain by Indians as they were clearing ground for the spring planting. . . . A Junkins family history names Valentine Hill as Andrew Rankins original owner. That same history says Valentine Hill also owned Robert Junkins [#42 DPL] and Micum McIntire [#61 DPL]. http://junkinsfamilyassociation.wikidot.com/robert-junkins-story. . . . 12 Nov 1667 - admitted he was the father of Martha Merrys unborn child. James Grant and Robert Junkins were his bondsmen. [Note: most Junkins family histories fail to mention this story.] 4 Dec 1667 - Andrew Rankin and Martha Merry married. About January 1668 - son Constant Rankin was born. They lived at 'Scotland'. They had 5 children between 1668-1677. On 7 April 1677 he was one of the seven York men who were slain by Indians in the Brixham section while clearing ground for spring planting. The victims included Andrew Rankin, Lewis Bean, John Frost, John Palmer, William Roans, and Isaac Smith, who was visiting from Chelsea, in addition to Curmuckhell. The Ancestors of the Rankin family were Scots who came from Northern Ireland. Andrew Rankin was a member of the Scottish army that was defeated at Dunbar by Oliver Cromwell in 1650. Andrew was taken prisoner and held in and English prison until November, 1650. At the time, Andrew was one of 150 prisoners who were shipped to the New England Colonies for compulsory servitude. They arrived in Boston, on the ship 'Unity', Augustine Walker, Commander, in December, 1650. Sixty of these prisoners were 'sold' to the Iron Works at Saugus, Mass. The remainder were 'sold' to various owners in New England. Andrew Rankin and several of his fellow prisoners settled in York, Maine in 1667, after their period of compulsory servitude was ended."

He was born in Brooksville, Jan. 16, 1891 the son of Eugene S. and Maud (Blodgett) Snow. Mr. Snow went to sea on coastal schooners in his early years and was a carpenter and cabinet maker in the Brooksville, Bucksport, Bangor and Brewer areas for many years. He was a member of the Rainbow Grange of North Brooksville and skippered for many years in the retired skippers race, Casine, having last raced as the oldest skipper in 1981. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice (Gray) Snow, in 1965. Mr. Snow is survived by one son, I. Frank Snow of Brooksville; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Nettie) Leach of Penobscot, Mrs. James (Evangeline) Peasley, Sr. of Brooksville one brother, Harvey Snow, one sister, Mrs. Inez Fogg, both of Belfast; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews."
