[31468] Simeon's information is from the unverified Scott Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2011 which states he m. (1) in 1868 in Randolph Co., WV Christeny E. Nana and (2) 15 Dec 1870 in Watson, KS Margaret A. Davidson (1851-1916). "The Topeka State Journal, 21 September 1911," p. 6: "After forty years of married life, Margaret A. Hedrick brought suit in the district court today asking for a divorce from Simeon C. Hedrick. a wealthy Shawnee county farmer. The Hedricks were married Dec. 15. 1871. For years Mrs. Hedrick helped her husband accumulate a fortune. Then, according to the petition, the husband became stingy and parsimonious and refused to provide for his companion's needs. Mrs. Hedrick is now quite old. She says she tried to endure Hedrick's treatment, but his close hold on the family bank account turned to cruel treatment. Now Mrs. Hedrick seeks a divorce and a division of the estate. According to statements in the woman's petition, Hedrick's treatment of the last few years has not been kind and loving. He has shown no desire to reward his wife for her years of labor and saving that the aged couple might some day have a quiet, comfortable home and take life easy. Instead, Hedrick has nagged and abused his companion and it is alleged that on one occasion he threatened to kill her. The Hedrick's are the parents of six children. All have reached maturity. Hedrick and his wife live on the farm that represents their life savings. The farm is well stocked and in the hour of trouble Mrs. Hedrick does not overlook the fact that she helped to earn the fortune. Now she wants her share of the profits. In her petition she asks for $150 for support pending the trial of the case. She asks for attorney's fees and an order from the court restraining Hedrick from interfering with her peace and quiet while the action is pending. The Hedrick family is among the old settlers in this countyand are ranked among the well to do families in the community in which they live. Hedrick is known among his neighbors as a thrifty farmer with a natural ability to accumulate much of the world's goods. Not in months has a suit for divorce been filed in Shawnee countv wherein the parties to the action have been married aa long as have Hedrick and his wife."
