Inscribed on the Roll of Maine at the rate of Eight Dollars per month to commence on 28th of April 1818". Widow's Pension NO. W21927. His services during the Revolutionary War were as follows: Served early in the Revolution in Captain Bradish's Company in Colonel Ed Phinney's Massachusetts Regiment. Was at Cambridge on October 20, 1775. In 1776, served in Captain Lowell's Massachusetts Company. Enlisted February 7, 1777, served as Sergeant in Captain Lane's Company in Colonels Alden's and Brook's Seventh Massachusetts Regiment. Was discharged from Military Service on February 9, 1780. [43924] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 1 March 1982, p. 23: "Belfast - Gilbert R ('Gibby') Snowman, 60, died Feb. 27, 1982 at his residence in Belfast. He was born in Orland March 14, 1921, the son of Gilbert R. and Gertrude (Leach) Snowman. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army and was a member of the Norman N. Dow VFW Post of Bangor. He was employed for 30 years at St. Regis Paper Co. in Bucksport. He was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1938, and was an outstanding athlete in football and baseball, having played in the Eastern Maine League for several years. He is survived by his mother of Brewer; his wife, Marian (Grant) Snowman of Belfast; four sons, Stephen of Bangor. Bruce of Stockton Springs. Jeffrey of Orland and Christopher of Orland; two stepsons, Alan Color of North Berwick and Lynn Color of Waldo; one step- daughter Sally, Bell of Florida; two brothers, Eugene Snowman of Maryland and Fred Snowman of Mt. Carmel New York; five sisters, Barbara Doll, Katherine Luce and Helen Irwin, all of Brewer, Gertrude Weston of Bangor and Myrna Nason of Portland; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins."
