[47059] Guy is son of Alonzo Brainard Crippen (1817-1878) & Clarissa Patterson Hodgson (1834-1904). Find A Grave memorial 97722056 offers: "Guy's mother, Clarissa, married Alonzo B. Crippen in 1851. When Alonzo died in 1878, his mother married John Hodgson in October 1878." "The Greene Recorder [Greene, Iowa], 23 January 1924," p. 2: "This community was shocked and saddened, when it became known Guy A. Crippen, aged 49, had away, at his home on Main street, south, at 4:45, Sunday afternoon, 20. 1924. Funeral services will be at the Methodist church, at two p. m., Wednesday. Interment in Lynwood cemetery. Services by the Methodist minister, Rev. W. M. Lemen, assisted by the Presbyterian pastor, Rev. D. W. Morgan. He leaves his wife, formerly Miss Ida Ritzman, brothers, Brainard, of Waterloo and Alfred, of Clarksville; two sisters, Mrs. George Kellogg, of Charles and Mrs. Lottie Perrin, of Clarksville. Mr. Crippen had been operated upon for the removal of his tonsils, between Christmas and New Years, and had seemed to be in health. He had been at his customary place in the Clarksville Hardware Store, and when stricken, was working at the home of Miss Hartness, helping the plumber to put in furnace radiators. This was Friday afternoon. A physician was called, and he was taken home, but he grew steadily worse until the end came. Mr. Crippen had been a successful farmer, but moved to town three ago, built a fine new home and a good position, as above stated. The cause of his sudden demise was dilation of the heart."
