Andrew Morr, Sr. and Andrew Morr, Jr. came to America in 1770 or 1772 per "Snyder County Pioneers," Charles A. Fisher. They donated the land for the "Morr Church" near Freeburg, Snyder Co., PA, and gave communion ware for its use (which was stolen around 1970). Another source states Andrew, Sr. may have come on the ship "Brothers", landing at Philadelphia 12 September 1751. See http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/snyder/cemeteries/zion.txt in 2002 for information about Morr Church and cemetery. Andrew and Catherine apparently r. Bethel in present-day Lebanon Co., PA for a time, as their two eldest daughters were baptised there by Lutheran Pastor John Casper Stoever - see http://www.chm.davidson.edu/PAGenWeb/records/StoeverBaptisms.txt. The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File (976P-SF) states that Andrew m. (2) Anna Maria Renninger. Andrew Morr was in Penn Twp., Snyder Co. (then Union Co.) in 1771 (see "Annals of the Buffalo Valley" by John Blair Lynn, p. 37, on the web at http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/union/history/lynn/l001040.txt). Andrew was a Private in the Pennsylvania Line, serving in the War for Independence (7th Battalion, Lancaster Co. PA Militia, Captain Thomas Robinson 3rd. Company 7th Battalion, Lancaster Militia, and Captain Boggs Militia Company) as well as a member of the Committee of Safety in Northumberland Co. in 1777). [Albert E. Myers proved descent from him in his Sons of the American Revolution application (NSSAR # 73197). For insight into what service in the War for Independence was like for Andrew, see "A People's History of the American Revolution," Ray Raphael (New York: The New Press, 2001 - ISBN 0-06-000440-1), Chapters 1 & 2.] He may also be the Andrew Morr who is on the list of petitioners from Penn's Valley who ask to be excused from militiary service 21 Aug 1779 - PA Archives, Series 2, Vol. 3, p. 284.
A file attached to the Myers Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013 offers: "Andrew Morr, Jr., was a son of Andrew Morr, Senior. He was born on Apr. 30, 1727, supposedly in Germany, and died in what is now Washington Twp., Snyder Co., and his will was probated at Sunbury, Pa. on May 18, 1801 In 1758 Andrew lived in what is now Shaefferstown, Lebanon Co., Pa., but was then Heidelberg Twp. of Lancaster Co. His wife was Catherine Elizabeth, and she was born on Apr. 17, 1732. On Sept. 3, 1766, he made application for a warrant of survey for 160 acres adjoining the land of Geo. Bumbach and Charles Brunk, on the Middle Creek, in what is now Washington Township. Andrew and his father and their families came to the new land in 1770 or 1771. In 1772, 'Widow of Andrew Morr' was assessed in Penn Township, but as Andrew evidently became the owner of his father's holdings, we do not find his name on the Penn tax list until 1776. In November of the year he was elected assessor of Penn Twp. and on Feb. 13, 1777 he was a member of the Committee of Safety for Penn Twp., and thus became one of those who helped establish our present country. In 1780 he was constable of Penn Twp. In 1781, he was assessed with 400 acres of land, a sawmill, gristmill, and personal property. In 1787, he was one of the viewers for the formation of Beaver Twp. In 1790, he was appointed a viewer to help fix the boundary lines of Mahantango Twp. In 1801, he lived in the village of Freeburg. The Lutheran Church, north of Freeburg, was sometimes known as Morr's Church, because Andrew and his father had much to do with the founding and support of it. In 1794, Andrew and his wife gave the church a fine silver communion set, which was inscribed with their names. This set is still in existence, although no longer in use. In addition to other property, Andrew owned an oil mill and a distillery. He dealt extensively in real estate, and at one time was one of the largest realty owners of this section. His wife, Catherine Elizabeth, died about 1795, and he married the widow Dewald. Andrew and his two wives are buried in the cemetery of old Zion or Morr's Church. Only the grave of his second wife is marked The children of Andrew Morr and his first wife were: Christina, 1757-1793, (married John George Roush, a Revolutionary soldier)."
