In 1385 he made a successful raid into England. In 1388 he made another successful raid into England. He held the office of Guardian of the Realm [Scotland] between 1 December 1388 and 27 January 1399. He succeeded to the title of Earl of Buchan on 24 July 1394. He was created 1st Duke of Albany [Scotland] on 28 April 1398. He was created 1st Earl of Atholl [Scotland] on 2 September 1403, for the life of King Robert III only. He was deposed as Earl of Atholl on 4 April 1406. He held the office of Regent [Scotland] in June 1406. He resigned as Earl of Buchan on 20 September 1406. He married Hannah Gee on July 28, 1683, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. They had 19 children in 52 years. He died as a young father on January 20, 1690, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, at the age of 31.

[7184] Horatio is son of Joseph Littlefield, Jr. (b. 20 Sept 1792 in Penobscot, ME, d. 5 Feb 1871 in Penobscot) and wife Jane Varnum (b. 4 June 1795 in ME, d. 7 Jan 1872 in Penobscot). Jane is daughter of Gershom Varnum and Dolly Moor according to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~megen/reunion/ps16/ps16_184.html. Horatio's siblings are Elias (b. 19 March 1818), Moses (25 Feb 1820), David (4 Aug 1825), Caroline (1831-1857), Mary Jane (29 Sept 1834) and Otis (1837-1839). Horatio had a brother, Capt. Elias Littlefield, who r. at Penobscot village on the Northern Bay. The 1870 federal census lists Horatio as a ship's carpenter and lists his children.
