'Pop' Davis, 55, veteran Mansfield golfer and president of the News-Journal class B golf league at Possum Run, died this morning at his home, 224 Clairmont avenue, after a long illness. Davis had played in the 'B' league ever since its organization 10 years ago, served as president last season, and re-elected president next year. He became ill shortly after close of the golf season this fall. Born in Pigeon Run, O., March 5, 1887, he came to Mansfield in 1917 and was employed at the Empire Sheet and Tin Plate company. For the past ten years he had been an inspector at the Westinghouse Plant. He was a member of First Christian Church. Mansfield lodge No. F. & A. M. and of the Fellowcraft club. He is survived by his widow, Viola Slicker Davis, four daughters, Mrs. Merle Beer, Mrs. Earl Fox, Mrs. Harvey Heichel, all of Mansfield; and Betty Jane, at home: four sons, Pvt. Evan Davis of Fort Knox, Ky.; Thomas, Alex Jr. and George R. Davis, of Mansfield; two brothers, William of Swissvale, Pa., and David L. Davis of Canton; and two sisters, Mrs. Phil Biery of Canton; and Mrs. Elmer Hof of Parma; also 16 grandchildren." Alexander is son of Thomas Evan Davis (1863-1895) & Jennie Pollock (1868-1942).

[47385] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 3 October 1935," p. 8: "Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Bolze, aged 50 years, 1 month, 5 days, wife of Luther Bolze, of Alinda, died at the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, last Thursday at 7 p. m. of a heart condition from which she had been in ill health for some months. She was a daughter of James and Maryetta Foose Rice, of Landisburg, and was born in Spring township. She and Mr. Bolze were married at the Lutheran parsonage in Loysville by their pastor, Rev. W. D. E. Scott, and her entire life was spent in Spring township. Mrs. Bolze was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, the. Young Ladies' Bible Class of the Sunday School and of the Ladies' Aid Society. She was a faithful church worker, wife and mother and her presence will be missed in home, church and community. Surviving her are her husband, four children: Anna Mary, employed at the State Capitol, Harrisburg, Frank, Fae and Bruce at home, and the following brothers and sisters: Alice, Mrs. Cloyd Dunkleberger, Harvey and William Rice, of Lancaster county; Frances, Mrs. Samuel George, and Roy Rice, near Meck's Corner; Mrs. Margaret Bower, Harrisburg; Mabel, Mrs. Warren Beahn, of Chicago; Mamie, Mrs. William Ellerman, Carlisle; Clark, George and Julia Rice, of Alinda. Funeral services were held in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church on Monday at 10 a. m., her pastor, Rev. J. Grover C. Knipple, officiating, and burial was in the adjoining cemetery." Lizzie and Luther had Anna Mae Bolze Henry (1915-1946), Frank Benjiman Bolze (1919-1973), Faye E. Bolze Zeigler (1925-2008) & Bruce Lance Bolze (1926-1986).

Time spent at his camp with his grandchildren was his favorite pastime. He attended church at Charleston Pentecostal and Glad Tidings. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, June Wasson of Charleston; his children, Keith Wasson and his wife, Linda, of Charleston, Kevin Wasson and his wife, Sheila, of Bradford, Karen Smith and her husband, Rick, of Ocala, Fla., and Kristal Huskey and her husband, Jim, of Cibolo, Texas; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Foster of Idaho and Avis Kelly and her husband, Hugh, of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a granddaughter, Brandi Smith. A committal service will be held in the spring at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth."
