"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 17 May 1996, p. 19: "Blue Hill - Alice L. Monk, 81, wife of the late Edward Monk, died May 15, 1996, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Jerry and Josie (Snow) Leach. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, where she was active in the Ladies Day Circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Duffy Wescott Post No. 85 in Blue Hill, and the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by one daughter, Josephine 'Edwina' Petrie of Ellsworth; one son, John E. Monk of Lunenberg, Mass.; two sisters, Blanche Leach of Sedgwick and Winifred Wescott of Blue Hill; two grandsons, Anthony Petrie of Bangor and Jeremy Petrie of Blue Hill; three granddaughters, Alicia Petrie of Ellsworth, Pamela Monk Fuller of East Millinocket, and Jan Monk of Portland; a great-grandson, Stacy Meister and his father, John of Old Town, and Benjamin Fuller of East Millinocket; two great-granddaughters, Kristen Petrie of Bangor and Kelley Petrie of Bangor; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a sister, Lena; granddaughters, Christina Ann and infant Kimberley; and great-granddaughter, Faith."
