To this union two children were born; Lady Anne Spencer born 1920 and Captain Edward John Spencer, 8th Earl Spencer born 1924. Through her marriage, Lady Cynthia was styled as Viscountess Althorp on February 1919 and Countess Spencer on September 22, 1922. Cynthia was invested as an Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1943 and in 1953 she was invested as a Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.). Cynthia was a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth from 1937 until her death at Althorp due to a brain tumor in 1972."
[53029] Ronald is son of Chester L. R. Hartford (1902-1976) & Georgianna Lebree (1906-2000; m. 2 May 1921 in Maine). Find A Grave memorial 176258601 offers: "Ron grew up in Dexter, Maine. As a teen he went to work on the potato farms in Aroostook County. He returned to enlist in the US Navy, and served on the USS Eperson until his honorable discharge. On Feb 12th, 1949, Ron married the love of his life Doris with whom he shared 68 years and raised 5 children. Ron worked for Maine Central Railroad until his retirement but also spent many hours in the woods cutting pulp. Though he was an extremely hard worker his true lifes purpose was his care, support and love for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ron enjoyed travelling, and, with his family and friends, explored 49 states, all of the Canadian provinces, and parts of Australia. He also loved playing games of cards and dice, but he was a champion at checkers! It was given that when he met someone new his first question would be 'Do you know how to play checkers?' - followed closely by 'how bout a game?' Ron always had building projects. In addition to beautifully renovating his home and helping others with their projects, he also built his camps. He built one in East Dover, another on Whetstone Pond, a cottage in P.E.I., and another at his'Farm Pond' in Sangerville. Through his hard work, dedication and generosity he created a legacy that will be cherished by his loved ones for generations. While he usually kept himself very busy, one of Rons favorite pastimes was sitting with family and friends and telling the stories of his well lived life, his proudest moments, his tallest yarns, and his fondest memories."
