[51716] "Thw Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 23 February 2017": "Trenton - Dorothy Bucklin died Feb. 22, 2017, at Courtland Rehabilitation and Living Center in Ellsworth. She was born in Lamoine, Dec. 13, 1931, the daughter of Samuel Bunker and Blanche Ida (Chamberlain). Dorothy was a graduate of Brooksville High School, in which she received the Book of Etiquette upon graduation. Her favorite hobbies were: music, sewing, knitting and raising cocker spaniels. For many years she found great joy in operating the home of the friendliest cocker spaniels known as Oak Point Kennels. She had a passion for gardening - especially fruit trees, flowers and vegetables. Dorothy loved cooking, baking and serving others. Dorothy worked many jobs over the years. She worked at Hannaford Supermarkets, worked as a baker and worked for Coastal Agency, to name a few of her many 'jobs.' She studied real estate and earned her sales and brokers license. She eventually opened her own real estate office - Oak Point Real Estate in Trenton. Dorothy never stopped learning and in retirement she got her CDL License. Dottie did a lot of public service. She helped build the Trenton School, was a selectman, assessor, served on the school board and was overseer of the poor for her beloved hometown. Dottie was a lady ahead of her time. Her work ethic was impeccable. She loved her husband, Edward, and their many adventures which included traveling, square dancing, and just being together. Her greatest joy was her children. She was proud of each of them for all their own unique talents. Dorothy had a love of Jesus and was a lifelong believer. Her spirituality always rested with the Holy Father. She neither held grudges nor dwelled on the past. Dottie was unable to work or enjoy her hobbies the last years of her life due to health issues; however, she was able to reside at home with loving care and support. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dorothys memory would be greatly appreciated to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605. She is survived by her children, Constance Severence, Jan Michael Ryan, and Susan Waite; four stepchildren, Suzanne Cantnese and her family, Belinda Fletcher and her family, Martha Fleck, and Charles Bucklin and his family; 12 grandchildren, Patty Staples, Jan Rossi, Melanie Dutra, Shannon Ryan, William Ryan, Jeremy Ryan, Debbie Ryan, Todd Waite, Samantha Severence, Ashley Ryan, Mariah Ryan, and Christopher Ryan; 12 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Edward Bucklin. They were married on Feb. 20, 1970. She was also predeceased by her son Jeffrey Ryan; grandson Jessie Ryan; brothers Samuel Bunker and Larry Farrell; and stepsisters Norma Nixon and Fern Havey."

[1460] For an extended discussion of the puzzle of her parentage, see "England Under the Angevin Kings," Kate Norgate (N.Y.: Haskel House, 1969), Vol. 1, pp. 190ff. See Constance of Provance, which I also show as wife of Robert II, King of France, for an alternate ancestry of Constance. A note associated with her grave in http://www.findagrave.com states: "Born the daughter of Guillaume III Taillefer, Comte de Provence and Adelaide d'Anjou about 973. About 1001 she became the third wife of Robert II of France. His previous wife, Bertha of Burgundy was cousin to Pope Gregory V who would not sanction the marriage to Constance and Robert was excommunicated. After extended negotiations, however, with a new Pope, Silvester II, the marriage to Bertha was finally annulled. The Burgundians remained Constance's political opponants and her marriage contentious. At her urging, their eldest son, Hugues, was crowned co-king to his father in 1017. Hugues' open rebellion in 1025 failed and he fled, dying the following year a fugitive. She encourage further revolt from her sons, and by 1029 the king was at was with his sons Henri and Robert. The king died in the field in 1031 at Melun, France, and Henri succeeded him as Henri I though Constance favored Robert for the throne. She retired from court upon Henri's accension and formed a powerful insurgency against him, seizing her dower lands and driving Henri into Normandy, where he allied there with the Duke. He returned to besiege his mother at at her hold in Poissy, and although she escaped, she eventually surendered to Henri. She died soon after at about age 60, and was buried beside her husband. She has occasionally been referred to as Constance de Taillefer or Constance de Provence." Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constance_of_Arles.

[54741] Elaine's obituary: "Milbridge - Mrs. Elaine R. Leighton, 74, wife of the late Donald H. Leighton, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, with her son and daughter in law at her side following a long illness at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, Maine. She was born September 15, 1928, in Milbridge, Maine, the daughter of Almena and Milford Ray Sr. Elaine was raised in Milbridge and spent her life living and working in the community. She worked packing sardines for 47 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gave her endless love and energy to her family. She will be missed deeply by those close to her. Elaine created and will always be loved and adored for the deep and rock solid family core she nourished from the day she began her own family. Her Sunday dinners drew her family together every single week of her life. She believed completely in family and home, was an avid vegetable gardener and a master of jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She loved to cook for her family and her recipes are treasures to many. Many will remember her as she, with a small hoe and roller, would venture off near her home to dig clams for her fritters, or when she could be seen in her fields picking blueberries and cranberries by hand. Elaine is survived by her only child, Barry A. Leighton, a devoted and loving son, and his wife, Jacquie; her granddaughter, Nadine M. Leighton; her grandson, Joshua A. Leighton, and his wife, Holly; her sister and dearest friend, Helen Strout, and her husband, Frank; her brother, Milford (Roonie) Ray Jr., and his wife Helen; she was predeceased by her brother, Moses Ray. She will be missed by a dear family friend, Betty Mohs of Steuben."
