[45176] This child is not verified but is from https://www.geni.com/people/Rev-Moses-Ames. https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Moses_Ames_(3) offers: "Noted abolitionist, nearly elected to the Maine legislature, beloved Freewill Baptist preacher, a well known man in his day. Rev. Moses Ames, a well-known Freewill Baptist minister (b. Sullivan, Hancock, ME, 8 Dec 1812, d. S. Dover, Penobscot, ME 30 Sep 1860), was almost certainly the son of Joseph. This provides circumstantial evidence that Joseph Ames lived near Sullivan, Hancock, ME in 1812. I note that James K Ames first wife and daughter are buried in the same cemetery (S. Dover,ME) with Moses Ames. I know that Moses was in Bradford from 1840 census, and from a biography of him the following: "Ames, Rev. Moses, died in South Dover, Me.,Sept. 30, 1860, in his 48th year. He was born in Sullivan, Hancock County, Me., Dec. 8, 1812. At the age of 4, the family moved to Bradford, where after twelve years his parents were reclaimed, and he had the conviction strongly forced home upon his heart that he was a sinner. In the spring of 1834, through a protracted meeting, he and others were converted, and in July following he began preaching. He had been baptized by Rev. Nathaniel Harvey, uniting with the church in Bradford. The destitute churches in the Sebec Q. M. were objects of his labor. He was licensed by the Quarterly Meeting September, 1838, and labored in Garland and Danville. Sept. 22, 1839, he was ordained. In May 1838,he began his ministry at Corinth. In 1840 he saw from his preaching a great revival at Garland, and in a short time baptized over twenty. His work in Bradford was blessed. In 1841 he saw revivals both in the Wellington and in the Springfield Q. Ms. In October he was present at the eleventh General Conference at Topsham. He moved his family to Corinth in December, where for some months he had preached half the time. In January 1842, in a revival at Hunting's Mills, in Corinth, twenty-three were added to the church. A revival attended him in Garland where he preached part of the time. During the summer he baptized there forty-six. and in 1845 moved there. He attended the thirteenth General Conference in Sutton, Vt., in October 1847, as a delegate from the Penobscot Y. M. The next year he moved to Veazie for a pastorate of two years. Here a church was organized. In November 1850, he began his labors with the Dover and Foxcroft church, where his strength failed him. During the last year of his ministry seventy were added to the church. He was a man highly gifted in natural talent; he possessed good business ability. His devotion to the ministry cost him his health. He was a gifted speaker and drew multitudes after him. [59732] "Morning Sentinel [Augusta, Maine]," 15 January 2014: "Waterville - Judith Hope Varney, 83, a former resident of Plymouth, died Friday, Dec. 20 at Woodlands Assisted Living Center in Waterville, where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Benjamin and Doris (Main) Mosher. Judith was a graduate of Waterville High School then attended comptometer school (a popular type of calculating machine of the time) in Boston. She worked for Hollingsworth and Whitney Co. (later Scott Paper) before marriage. On June 10, 1950, she married Lloyd H. Varney, who passed away in 1993. She also worked in Waterville as a telephone switchboard operator and receptionist at Thayer and Inland hospitals. She loved her family very much. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her four children. Judi enjoyed knitting, bowling and loved to cook, compiling four notebooks of recipes during her married years. She is survived by her long-time companion, Bill Mosher, of Winslow; one daughter, Susan, and her husband, Lee Sandler, of Readfield; three sons and their wives, Douglas and Carol, of Greenbelt, Md., David and Olga, of Plymouth, and Dan and Andrea, of Proctor, Vt.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Perry Mosher, of Winslow. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 129 Blue Star Highway, Augusta." Her parents are Benjaman Harvey Mosher (1898-1947) & Doris A. Main (1900-1999; m. 19 November 1919 in China, Kennebec Co., ME).
