[4096] Known as Marie. "News-Journal [Mansfield, OH], 10 August 1965," p. 3: "Loudonville - Mrs. Ralph (Marie) Wickham, 57, of Loudonville, mother of former News Journal society department employe, Mrs. Thomas L. McMillen of Mansfield, died early today in Kettering Hospital, following a long illness. Mrs. Wickham was born in Akron, but had lived in Loudonville most of her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Women of Zion and the Loudonville Women's Club. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Barbara McMillen, another daughter, Mrs. James Campbell, also of Mansfield; husband, Ralph; three sons, Donald and Robert, both of Loudonville, and Edward of Wooster; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Paulin of Loudonville; five sisters, Mrs. Walter Roach, Mrs. George Shreve Jr., and Mrs. Don Helbert, all of Loudonville, Mrs. Karl Stockman of Westerville, and Mrs. Robert McClaran of Ashland; two brothers, Richard and Robert, both of Loudonville; and 13 grandchildren."
[31998] Ancestry.com offers: "Woodruff Name Meaning - English: topographic name for someone who lived on a patch of land where woodruff grew, Old English wudurofe (a compound of wudu 'wood' with a second element of unknown origin). The leaves of the plant have a sweet smell and the surname may also have been a nickname for one who used it as a perfume, or perhaps an ironical nickname for a malodorous person."
