[43194] "The Akron Beacon Journal, 29 April 1918," p. 1: "Mrs. Susie Gougler, 35, was killed, and her son, Park, 14, suffered possible fatal injuries Saturday afternoon when a buggy In which they were riding upset in front of their home In Pleasant Valley, south of Akron. They were starting to the funeral of a neighbor when the horse suddenly reared and overturned the buggy, throwing its ocoupants out into the road. Mrs. Gougler was internally Injured and died soon after the accident, although she attempted to walk to the house as soon as she regained her senses. The effort proved fruitless and she died before a physician could be summoned. The son suffered injuries to the back and spine which may result fatally or in permanent injuries. Mr. Gougler was visiting relatives at the time of the trouble. Besides her husband and the injured boy five children survive."
