[28991] Ref. "Our Kin," William Harris Manning and Edna Anderson Manning (Walton Print Co., 1958), p. 464, which states he "came to Virginia in 1634. Settled in New Kent County, a part of which became Hanover County." This book speculates on the Welsh pedigree of the Owen family. "Owen Name Meaning - Welsh: from the Welsh personal name Owain, probably a borrowing in Roman times of Latin Eugenius (see Eugene), but possibly of more ancient Celtic origin, cognate with Gaelic Eoghan. Scottish and Irish: reduced Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Eoghain son of Eoghan (see McEwen)." - Source: Dictionary of American Family Names ©2013, Oxford University Press.

[56244] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 1 April 2024: "Ellsworth and Bar Harbor - Mary E. (Rodick) McFarland passed away peacefully at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital, Ellsworth on March 26, 2024, at the age of 88 after a long journey with Alzheimers disease. She was born in Bar Harbor on March 20, 1936, the daughter of Alfred E. and Viola B. (Staples) Rodick. She attended Bar Harbor High School and resided in Bar Harbor until 1987 when she bought a house in Ellsworth. An extremely hard worker, Mary often juggled multiple jobs to support her five children. In spite of her busy schedule, she still found time to do fun things with her family, such as having cookouts at Bear Brook, swimming at Lakewood and going for a Dairy Joy."
