[55088] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 6 November 2023: "Penobscot - Hiram Samual Moon Jr., of Penobscot, passed away peacefully at his home Nov. 4, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born on Aug. 31, 1942, in Penobscot, the son of Thelma and Hiram Moon Sr. Sammy was a lover of the outdoors and worked primarily in the wood industry. He cut wood for many years with his own skidder and had a sawmill and shingle mill. He even tried a stint on the water lobster fishing and taking scallop divers out. Basically, he was a jack of all trades. He was an avid hunter and spent many hours hunting with his friends all over Hancock County. He always used to say hed like to have a dollar for every mile he walked in the woods chasing his hunting dogs or tracking a deer. In his later years you would find him out at camp on Toddy getting up early to cook breakfast for all the grandkids. Sammy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian Moon; a brother, Rodney Savery; four daughters, Vicky Moon and her friend Donny, Wendy Moon, Sharon Hatch and her husband Jimmy, Stacey Warren and her partner Allan; a son, Keith Moon; a special friend Ernie Buckley; 5 grandchildren: Jan, Nichole, Christy, Jamie and Tim; along with several great grandchildren; and his dog Lacey. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, and one sister."
