Buffington in Gratz, at the age of 84 yrs. 5 mos. 26 days. Deceased was a daughter of Henry and Magdalena (nee Schoffstall) Hartman. She was baptized in infancy by the Rev. Mr. Shindle, confirmed at the age of 16 by the Rev. Mr. Bergner. On October 23, 1860 she was united in marriage with Daniel Buffington by the Rev. Mr. Hemping. To this union were born 3 sons, Henry F. and Milton E. both decessed and Irwin M. residing at Gratz, who survives his mother. There also remain to mourn her loss 5 grandchildren and two great grand children. The funeral services were held from the home of her son on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock the main services being held in the Lutheran and Reforme Church, conducted by the Rev. W. Z. Artz with the Rev. C. P. Wehr assisting. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery."
