Florence of Worcester records that 'Northymbrensis comes Rotbertus de Mulbrei et Willelmus de Owe' conspired against William II King of England in [1095], planning to place 'filium amitæ illius Stephanus de Albamarno' on the English throne. William of Tyre names Etienne Comte d'Albemarle among those who left on the First Crusade in 1096 with Robert Count of Flanders. He was granted the lordship of Holderness in 1102. Orderic Vitalis reports that he supported Baudouin VII Count of Flanders and Guillaume 'Clito' de Normandie against Henry I King of England in 1118. m (before [1100]) Hawise de Mortimer, daughter of Ralph de Mortimer of Wigmore, Herefordshire & his first wife Mélisende --- (before 1088-). 'Stephen count of Aumâle' donated property to the abbey of Saint-Martin-des-Champs, Paris with the consent of 'Hauisa his wife and her father Ralf de Mortuomari' for the souls of '…Milesenda his wife deceased' by charter dated to [1100]."

"Bluffton News-Banner, 5 May 2005": "Former owner of Bertsch Jewelry Store in Bluffton, Sylvan Lee Bertsch, 83, died at his Bluffton residence at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005. Born June 20, 1921, in Adams County to Amos and Mary Maller Bertsch, his marriage to the former Alice Ann Arnold took place April 22, 1944, in Bluffton. She survives. A watchmaker with the Elgin National Watch Co., he worked as a jeweler with Mosiman & Green in Bluffton before starting his own business in 1951. He retired after 40 years in 1991. His first shop was located on South Johnson St., but he moved to the northwest corner of Johnson and Market Sts. in 1971, where Daniel's Jewelry is currently located. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, he served from January 1943 through November 1945 as a torpedoman aboard the U.S.S. Franklin, nicknamed 'Big Ben,' an Essex class carrier with the Halsey Task Force, that saw action in many Pacific battles. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 111. Additional survivors include a son, Dr. John D. Bertsch, Fort Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Flemming, Trumbull, Conn., Mrs. William (Carelyn) Calame, Lanoka Harbor, N.J., and Mary Bertsch, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Goldie) Stettner, Bluffton, and Mrs. William (LaVera) Roberts, Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children who died as infants, a brother, Harry Bertsch, and a sister, Viola Friedman."

She died on March 27, 1817, in Berks County, Pennsylvania, having lived a long life of 77 years." He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, Herndon Lodge 702 F. and A.M.; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Helen Geist, on May 26, 1963. He was married to the former Sarah Howard on Oct. 24, 1969 in Harrisburg. Surviving, in addition to, his widow, are five children, Lila, wife of Paul Rebuck, Leck Kill; Faye, wife of Derl Kieffer, RD Dornsife; June, wife of Franklin Brosius, Chambersburg; John R. Reitz, Derwood, Md.; Leah, wife of Ronald Knerr, Laurel, Md.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four, brothers, A.
