[57357] Antonine's obituary: "Auburn- Antonine 'Toni' Sassi, 96, of Rumford, passed away on July 5, 2018. She was born in New Brunswick Canada on June 5, 1922, a daughter of Jacob Joseph Chiasson and Agatha M. (Friolet) Chiasson. Antonines family came to the United States when she was just six years old. She attended local schools. Antonine married Lloyd Sassi on November 30, 1940. They had three children; Kenneth, Keith, and Susan Sassi-Byard, and together celebrated 65 years of marriage. The Sassi family enjoyed their summers at Roxbury Pond. Through the years, Antonine worked for United Stores, Grants, Irish Market, and the Village Shop until retirement. She loved to knit, sew, crochet, and play cribbage with her husband and granddaughters. She also enjoyed card games with her club friends. Surviving are her sons Kenneth Sassi and wife Charlene of Damariscotta, Keith Sassi and wife Christine of New Port Richey, FL., grandchildren; Jessica Paugh and husband Timothy, Mark Sassi and wife Jennifer, Nick Sassi and wife Millie, Brenna Parent and husband Ryan, and Alyson Byard, great grandchildren; Madeleine Paugh, Audrey Paugh, Kate Paugh, Fischer Sassi, Piper Sassi, Jameson Parent, and Mayve Parent. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, daughter Susan Byard, son in law James E. Byard Jr., two sisters; Virginia Faucher and Evangeline B. Arsenault, and five brothers; Armand, Martin, Levi, Vincent, and Christopher Chiasson."

He was born Aug. 21, 1904 in Southwest Harbor, son of Frank ond Maud (Holmes) Gilley. He studied at the University of Maine at Orono and was a plumbing and heating contractor for 27 years. He was an artist and writer who authered a book on bird carvtng and painting that has gone through many editions. For several yean he was president of the National Woodcarvers Association. The Doctor of Humane Letters Degree was conferred upon him by the University of Maine at Farmington. The Wendoll Gilley Museum in Southwest Harbor was built to honor him and his artistic achievement. He was a fifty year member of Treemont Masonic lodge No. 77, a 58 year member of Pemetic Lodge No. 135 IOOF of Southwest Harbor. He is survived by his wife Addie (Bragdon) Gilley of Southwest Harbor; one son, Leonard; three grandchildren, Anne, Amy and Thomas all of Farmington; one sister, Neolla Gallant of Bovina Center, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews."
