[57295] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 10 September 2024: "Washburn - Andrea Mary Bragdon, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Cary Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 11, 1947, in St. Francis, she was the daughter of Eldon J. and Winnifred M. (Ouellette) McPherson. Andrea dedicated her life to caring for others. As the eldest sibling, she played a pivotal role in raising her brothers and sisters. Her compassion extended to her work as a foster parent, where she and her husband provided a loving home for 92 children over 13 years. She continued this spirit of care throughout her life, looking after her parents and later her husband. Known for her immense strength and kindness, Andrea was a no-nonsense woman with a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor. Family was at the heart of Andrea's life. She cherished time spent playing cards, cooking Sunday dinners, attending church, and watching her favorite shows, 'The Young and the Restless' and 'Special Victims Unit.' Summers by the river, gatherings with her sisters, and moments with her grandchildren brought her great joy. Andrea was renowned for her culinary skills. She worked for many years in the kitchen of the Caribou School Department, contributed to Meals on Wheels, and prepared meals for the Washburn Rotary Club. She took great satisfaction in the pleasure her food brought to others. Andrea was predeceased by her husband, Eugene H. Bragdon; her son, Jean C. Bragdon; her granddaughter, Hanah G. White; as well as three sisters, Louise, Caroline, and Jennifer; and her parents, Eldon and Winnifred McPherson. She is survived by her daughters, Allyson Adams, Mary White, Jazmine Bragdon, and Elaina Gallagher; her sons, Randy Michaud and Morris Bragdon; her siblings, Wanda Bragdon, Debbie Hoyt, Vincent McPherson, and Ralph McPherson; and her cherished grandchildren, Hillary Cyr, Zachary Jackson, Benjamin White, Breanne Verdecchia, Megan Soucy, Alisha Gallagher, Morganne Bragdon, Jacob and Joshua Michaud, and Kati, Gage, Dezyrae, and Lilly Bragdon. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, and many special cousins, and nieces and nephews."

A file in Ancestry.com in 2014 offers:
Some researchers believe that Anthony West's parents were Thomas West and Elizabeth Sankey of Buckingham, England. In order to confirm this connection, I wrote to Thomas Woodcock of the College of Arms, London England and asked him research their medival records to verify that connection.
On March 14, 1997, Mr. Woodcock sent this reply.
"I must say at once that there is a mistaken identity in your list of ancestors. Anthony West who emigrated to Virginia in 1622 and who is mentioned in the enclosed photocopy from "Adventurers of Purse and Persons, Virginia 1607-1625" was not Anthony son of Thomas West and Elizabeth Sankey. The reason for this is that Anthony West, the son of Thomas West and Elizabeth Sankey, appears on a pedigree recorded at the Heralds' Visitation of Buckinghamshire in 1566 by his younger brother Nicholas West of Masworth described as One of the six Clerks of the Chancery. Nicholas West was then married with five children and he is presumably the Nicholas West of Masworth whose will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Cantebury (the principal probate Court in the country) in 1586. Anthony West, son of Thomas West and Elizabeth Sankey, was an adult in 1566.
From the "Adventurers of Purse & Persons" published by the Dietz Press, INC., pages 661 & 662.
ANTHONY WEST came to Virginia in the James, 1622, and in the census, 1623/24 is listed at James City, where he was living at "Mr. Treasuror's Plantation," across the river from Jamestown, 1624/5. At a court held at James City, Dec. 1625, Henry Menefre, merchant, testified that "Mes. Rowlsey did sett Anthony west free and delivered his Indentures to Capt. Sampson to cary into England to his freends."
Futhermore, at the same court, "Anthony West sworne and examined sayeth that he made an agreement with Zacharie Crips and Edmund White, to have fyteen hundred plants and after, he intendinge to goe for England, he quitted that agreement, and after proposinge to staye about planting tyme Zacharie Crips promised to give the said deponent Content for his labor, and so he stayed and Contynued to work with him till the crop was in.
On Jan. 1625/26 he testified at a James City court concerning the quality of some tobacco. He is mentioned in Virginia records between 28 Feb. 1627 and 14 April 1628 as having shipped 1380 pounds of tobacco to the port at Darthmouth, England.
Subsequently, West carried out his original intention and returned to England. On March 10 1633/4 " Anthony West of ye p'ish of Stepney in the County of Midd[lesex] Surgeon and a batchelr aged 28 yeares . . . alledgeth that he intendeth to marry wth Anne Huffe of the frsaide p'ish widowe aged 26 yeares the relict of Anthony Huffe." As "Anthony West of Shadwell, chirurgion," he married Anne Huffe, 11 March 1633/4 at St. Dunstans, Stepney.
He may be the Anthony West referred to in a York County order, 1644/5, in which a debt of tobacco, incurred by Hercules Bridges, was due and payable to Anthony West in 1644 within five days. He definitely returned with his family to Virginia by 5 Oct. 1649 when "Anthony West, Ann his wife, John West and Kathe: West" were named as headrights in a patent issued to Capt. Randall Herle, mariner, for 600 acres in Northampton County on the "Great Nusewattock River, from Chingandehee Creeke Mouth unto Arokoko Creeke"
From " Virginia's Eastern Shore":
1649: Patent (land grant) to Randall Herle for 600 acres "upon great Nuswattock River from Chingandehee Creeke Mouth unto Arokoko Creeke." The patent was due to Herle for the transportation of twelve persons to the Colony, among whom were ANTHONY WEST, his wife ANN, his son JOHN, and a daughter Katherine.
Anthony West's will, 12 Oct. 1651 - 25 May 1652, named his wife Ann and children John and katherine. His widow married (3) Capt. Stephen Charlton, who left will 28 Oct. 1654 - 29 Jan. 1654/5. She died after Oct. 1658.
From "Ames, Mears, and Allied Lines," by Lucy Ames Edwards as quoted by Mary Frances Carey in "George R. West, Ancestors and Descendants"
"It has been said that ANTHONY WEST was probably a cousin of the Lords De la Warr, Sir Thomas West, Baron de la Warr, Governor of Virginia Colony in 1610, and John West, Governor 1635-37. Whitelaw in 'Virginia's Eastern Shore' says, there was some relationship between the Lords De la Warr and ANTHONY WEST was proven by the arms on the tombstone of Major Charles West, great grand son of ANTHONY. The tombstone with the West arms was placed in in accordance with instructions in the will of Charles West, Accomack County, 1757, that before there was any division of his estate a tombstone was to be bought in London and placed over his grave. The tomb was placed on a lot in the town of Onancock, Virginia. Many years later the stone was knocked down and broken, placed by a well, eventually plowed over and, later still, dug up. Much of the coat of arms remains on the stone and can be identified as similar to that of Lord De la Warr. The stone has been perserved by the Eastern Shore Virginia Historical Society and can be seen in the museum of the Society at Kerr Place in Onancock, Virginia."
In response to my request, Mr. Thomas Woodcock, of the College of Arms of London, England, researched the De la Warr lineage to try to identify an Anthony West that fit the profile of my ancestor Anthony West. In his response of September 11, 1997, he was able to identify the parish in which Anthony West and Anne Huffe married. That parish is located on the north bank of the River Thames two and a half miles east of the City of London. The church of Stepney is dedicated to St Dunstan and all Saints. The records of that church are currently maintained by the London Metropolitan Archives, beginning in 1568. I have a request pending with them for a search of their births, christenings, marriage and deaths. My hope is that my ancestor Anthony West returned to his place of birth to marry.
Mr Woodcock provided me extensive documentation on the De la Warr line, but nowhere was there an Anthony West that fit the profile of Anthony West who came to Virginia in 1622.
Anthony West's Will
"In the name of God Amen this 12 October 1651 I Anthony West of Virginia being of sound mind and memory, praise be almighty God for it, do make and ordain this my last will and testament as followeth first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator assuredly hoping to be saved by the precious blood and death of my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. My body I commit to the earth whence it came to be buried. As it shall please God to appoint and touchinge and disposinge of my worldy estate as the Lord in Mercy hath blessed mee with all I will dispose the same in manner and form as following: Item my will and desire is that my sonne Jno West bee my full and whole executor of this my last will and testament; Item that my wife and daughter Barloe have their thirds out of my estate (all things in their kind) And that my sonne Jno do enjoye the rest; And that his mother have the managing of it (as longe as she keepeth herself a widow). But if she should marry then my desire is that my sonne Jno shall enjoy his estate (if it bee before he comes of age) I desire that no administrator nor overseer shall have anythinge to doe with my estate. Nor any appraisement (till they come to share it). In witness of the truth I have hereunto set my hand this day and year above said".
