Paul was born in Rockland on Nov. 25, 1946, the oldest child of Edwin and Emma Ames. He lived on Matinicus Island prior to moving to Bucksport at the age of 11. He graduated from Bucksport High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Marines, where he proudly served as a Lance Corporal until 1968. When Paul returned home, he began working at the Bucksport Paper Mill. Shortly after, he found his passion for carpentry, a trade he pursued tirelessly, even after retirement. Outside of work, Paul found joy in fishing, watching sports, attending his grandchildrens activities and spending time with his family and friends. Paul had a lot of accomplishments in his life, but his biggest were his four daughters and grandchildren."
