[16959] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 21 January 1994, p. 4: "Sedgwick - Katherine Grindal Wardwell, 88, wife of the late Horace Wardwell, Sr., died Jan. 19, 1994 at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Aug. 19, 1905 in Sedgwick, the daughter of Myron Dority Grindal and Clystabell Hooper Grindal. She attended Sedgwick Grammar School and graduated from Sedgwick High School. In 1928 she received a BS degree in Education of Home Economics. At that time she was also president of her sorority, Delta Zeta at the University of Maine at Orono. She taught school at Gardiner High School for the following two years. On Sept. 28, 1930 she married Horace Wardwell, Sr. Together they ran a grocery store in Sargentville until his death in 1958. Katherine worked at Perkins School for the Blind from 1960 to 1970, serving as a house mother in Fisher Cottage. In late 1970, she ended her employment because of a need to look after family members, which she did until recent years. She and her husband were active in town affairs. She also was a member of the Sargentville Thursday Club and Sedgwick Extension Group. Katherine was a member of the Eggemoggin Bible Church in Sedgwick, also serving as it's organist for many years. Surviving are a brother' Theodore and his wife Ruth (Orcutt) Grindal of Sedgwick; a sister, Betsy I. Grindal of Sedgwick; her son, Horace Wardwell, Jr. and his wife Sylvia (Conner) Wardwell; a grandson, Blaine A. Wardwell; two great-grandsons, Tyler A. Wardwell and Tyson Wardwell. She was predeceased by one great-grandaughter."
