He was the oldest living ex-groceryman in Carlisle, having conducted his store on South Hanover Street for many years where the Molly Hotel is now located. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Mrs. Trego is his only survivor."

She was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca, in 1973."
