Gary was born April 26, 1938, in Bangor, son of the late Douglas and Beatrice Doane. Gary grew up and attended schools in Veazie. He worked for many years as a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor in the greater Bangor/Brewer area. Gary was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for Mark Martin.
Gary is survived by his wife, Judy A. Doane of Orrington; children, Michael A. Doane and wife, Denise, and Carol Long and husband, Tony, all of Eddington; grandchildren, Bobby Jordon of Sugarland, Texas, Brittany Long and fiance, Thomas Wood, of Bangor, and a special little grandson, Jessie Doane, whom Gary loved very much; two sisters, Gail Hatch and husband, Ronnie, of Hermon, and Debbie Lainsbury and husband, David, of Eddington; one brother, David Doane of Kenduskeag; several nieces and nephews."
